Thats basically all youll ever need to know about Lua. At the moment, we have three patterns in naming a module sandbox page: I suggest that is one too much. Makyen (talk) 05:58, 1 January 2014 (UTC), That makes sense. In this case we will embed Lua using gopher-lua. Wnt (talk) 15:52, 22 January 2014 (UTC), Wikipedia:Lua/To do, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. What I'm trying to do is much more complicated, see Module:Convert/makeunits, but is the same issue. Easy to start using, the interface is user friendly and feels similar to C++ standard library. also, if someone already wrote a module that does the same thing, let me know and I will have this one deleted. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 11:59, 2 July 2013 (UTC), Hi, your feedback is welcome at Bug 50329 - We need a common repository for Scribunto modules and templates. Time-delay formula: The initial tests show a time-delay formula as roughly delay=3^(n/2000) seconds, where n is the number of parameters passed, and for n=6,000, the delay has been 3^3 or 27 seconds, or for n=7,000 then the delay has been 3^3.5 or 47 seconds. For example: Instead I need to output: "0.00001 1.2 3". Can Lua scripts access the username of the logged in user? 2000 I also worked on a fork of LuaJIT professionally and described my experiences here - this experience made me learn a lot about LuaJIT and how vanilla Lua works (and how it can be used in production for servers with a very high QPS). It may sound like asking to be babysat or spoon-fed, but I'm totally stuck. Dont put too much code into one script - its easy to separate everything into smaller scripts. It has a GNU Make build, so building it is easy. The function is followed by the arguments, in order. Vanilla Lua, the latest version, otherwise. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to think of a way to mix this logic to get what I want, namely a way to control whether results are updated daily or weekly, etc., because I haven't thought of a way by which the logic of whether time has passed will always be evaluated but the logic of the page content will not be, unless the time has come, at which point the caching should be updated on that page. The XLua object also has a substantial MMF Interface for directly querying and modifying game objects and state Lua is a language with implicitly dynamic data types. I'm a rookie! Comments appreciated. how can i do this (on which module, i find this Category for translation). The #invoke speed in March 2013 has been about 180/second, compared to short templates running 350-600 per second, or parser functions >750/second, or character-insertion templates running 2,400/second. There is still lots of work to do of course, But it's a start TheDJ (talk contribs) 22:18, 18 March 2013 (UTC). In Lua, all arrays are 1-indexed, however t[0] is still valid but that would result in the lenght of the array to be off-by-one. In short, if your coroutine gets GCed and you hold the reference to this local variable as a sol::object on the C++ side, it wont prevent the variable from getting GCed by Lua and your program crashing because of that. A language variable can contain values of any type. Clearly it's worth thinking about ways to reduce this impact as much as possible. Can one call lua function that returns sevaral strings and pass them to a template? --Vriullop (talk) 11:07, 22 March 2013 (UTC). Lua doesnt impose one style of writing code on you. Putting the following into the debug window gives the values shown: I don't need the functionI'm just asking if it has a bug. Johnuniq (talk) 06:53, 11 October 2013 (UTC), Doesn't Wikipedia's version of Lua allow the GetURL function (or equivalent)? Johnuniq (talk) 09:37, 7 October 2013 (UTC). WebDue to the short-circuiting behavior of or, it will generally impose little additional overhead at call-time: local soundit; do local sounds; function soundit (x) sounds = sounds or { a = "ay" , b = "bee" , c = "see" , . } assert ( type (x) == "string" ) return sounds [x] end end FT2(Talk|email) 02:07, 20 March 2013 (UTC), I found this guide for learning how to code Lua, may be of help or use www.lua.org/pil/contents.html#P1, I feel like I must have reinvented the wheel here, but I copied Template:Tlx to Template:Mlx with minor modifications, so we can type, and get {{#invoke:ConvertNumeric|decToHex|99 33}}, It would be good if someone could look this over for any flaws before it gets cascade-protected by something. laura lehn - via Google, I highly recommend Mayflower. But with the banning of the print function and the extra steps to validate the lua code in Wiki, I can't tell if the lua.org tutorial truly helpful to me as I don't know how to convert all those examples to comply with MediaWiki's lua standard. DePiep (talk) 23:55, 21 May 2015 (UTC). Hopefully this will be semi-useful again. Also, your feedback here about the best way to organize the data is also welcome. ]], "jo")' But there is a catch. Automatic insertion of the green 'chrome' of our template documentation. The Lua version has some differences from the current template, so I would like to get others' comments before making the switch. Is this a problem in my module or in Scribunto? (At least script error should be shown when print function is detected.) To maintain similarity with other sandbox pages (in template space and user space), I propose: If we agree on this, we can encourage/discourage patterns. Currently, there are a reasonable number of templates that try to determine if any of a set of pages exist in order to provide links to those pages. Thanks! There are still a few things I'm not sure about, though. Does mw.ustring.byteoffset work correctly with negative offsets?
